My Auntie, Millie

Dark brown eyes, dark blonde hair, short and chubby, beautiful and always full of energy are the best thing to describe my auntie, Millie. Whenever you see her, she always has a big smile on her face. She is always energetic when all of her nieces and nephews are around her.

She is very unique in her own way, she is very loud when it comes cheering us on, very strict and grumpy if we do somethings wrong and enthusiastic when it comes to Sunday. The reason why is because she just loves to go to church, she love to meet up with her friends at church and practise singing. At church, she practices to dance and sing so that she can perform it at church!

I love to shop with her because she chooses the most beautiful clothes ever! If you ever want to go shopping with anyone she is the person to go with. I love learning how to play sports from my aunty but sometimes she can get a bit grumpy. But no matter what, she is still a very nice person. I like to go shopping and go to the movies with her because we get some very yummy treats on the way. That's all I can say about her.

Simile and Metaphors

This week we were assigned to make a presentation of what the differences are between a simile and a metaphor!

Alan Duff

Alan Duff, the guy who wrote the movie and book 'Once Were Warriors' and also the owner of 'Duffy books in homes'! It was an amazing experience getting to meet him and also get our very own books from him. He told us a bit about his life and that many of his book were based on his personal experiences. He is a very inspirational person and he also inspired us to read alot and take books can take you many places.

Fact:
- His book, Once were Warriors is based on a personal experience when he was small
- That he owns Duffy books in homes!

Passion of food

Love of food, a good attitude and passion, those are the three things that you need to have to be a great chef or baker. I love to bake with my mum because she has already experienced in her life. She has taught me as much as I no in baking and it all comes from when she was younger.

I always have a mindful cooking and baking while I’m at home. I search through the cupboards and look for all the ingredient, if I have it all then I ask my mum if we can cook or bake. I get my passion of cooking from my grandma because she has been the one helping me to cook.

Sometimes she even teaches me some of the traditional food from the islands. I think I get my passions of cooking and baking from my mother because she love to bake and cook just as much as I do. This is one of my dreams and I really hope that it comes true.

Lost in the Mist

This morning we all completed our first writing sample for 2013. I have posted it just as I wrote it in the 40 minutes that we were given, so that throughout this year I will be able to look back and reflect back on the progress that I have made in my Writing. I will post my learning goals from this soon

“Yeppy, were going to granny’s house today!” little Amy said as mum was trying to get her ready. Amy always loved going to visit granny especially on special occasions because granny gives her yummy treats! But Amy’s older sister Sophie didn’t like to visit granny’s house because the animals were too noisy and see could sleep!

“Come on girls, lets go!” mum said as she was heading out the door. Amy rushed down the stairs and into the car while on the other hand, Sophie was still getting ready and 20 minutes later she came down and hopped in the car with a frown on her face! A little while later they arrived at grans house and settled into their rooms.

Amy ran to see granny and gave her a big hug and a sloppy kiss, “I am so glad to see you granny!” she said while she was sitting in granny lap. Granny was as glad as she was and the sun was shining beautiful so they both went out to play and spend more time with each other. Sophie stayed up in her room and listened to music on her laptop.

As the sun was starting to fade away ,granny had to go and check on her animals down on the farm and as she counted all of her cows, 2 of them were missing! So she thought that they would come back the next day. The next morning, she went to go and check on the cows again, and now 4 of her cows were missing! They weren’t only running away, they were disappearing!

They went to town and put fliers all over and asked people if they have seen they but even ones answer was “NO!”. This was very bad but then she remembered her neighbor Dalice, was very jealous of her because she had won more trophies than she did in the farmers comp. It all started when granny won her first farmer comp and Dalice had never lost in that comp until granny came and took all the glory away from her.

So granny went over Dalice’s house and asked if she had seen her 4 missing cow and she answered with a big fat NO! Then granny could hear some cows out on her field and went to go and check. She counted all of Dalice’s cows and she had 4 more that she had before! “Dalice, I know you’re angry at me and I don’t blame you for it but did you steal my 4 missing cows?”

Dalice started to bust out in tears and said “I miss win that competition because thats when everybody knew me and now nobody knows me and when they see you, they know exactly who you are!”. But granny said “ Well, there is one person who knows you very well, ME!” So granny got her 4 cows back and granny and Dalice are very close friends now!
